I like to describe myself as “a theologian and an agent of change.” I have a PhD in Systematic Theology from Boston College, with work on Richard Hooker, a 16th-century English theologian and political theorist. I also have an M.A. in English from UBC, with work on J.R.R. Tolkien that reflects my interest in literature and religion, along with a B.A. (Honours) in Political Science from Carleton University, and a B.Th. from St. Paul University in Ottawa. I have published two books: In Praise of Mixed Religion: The Syncretism Solution in a Multifaith World and Frequently-Asked Questions in Christian Theology

In addition to teaching and administration with The College of Emmanuel & St. Chad and Kootenay School of Ministry, I have also done extensive work helping parishes through times of transformation. In recent years, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what evangelism looks like in today’s pluralist world; my current project is called Spreading the News: Evangelism for Mainstream Christians. I’m married to Rita and have two sons, Richard and Charles. Hobbies include dark beer and listening to music of all kinds.
