Colonialism can be broadly understood as seizing ownership over something historically shared by others and displacing them.
Kayko Driedger Hesslein will present ways in which theology itself has been colonized and has come to support the colonial project, with death-dealing consequences.
She will then suggest that "decolonizing theology"––both undoing the colonization of theology and theologizing in ways that decolonize––begins when we embrace Christianity's origins as a displaced religion that follows a Christ who came to share his life with others.
